Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certification

Take the first step toward becoming a lifesaver. Our Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course is designed for Utah residents seeking BEMS-DPS licensure and national certification through the NREMT. Whether you’re entering the world of EMS, preparing for a fire or law enforcement career, or want to confidently respond to emergencies in your community—this course provides the knowledge and hands-on training you need to act fast and effectively.

Legal, ethical, and scene safety responsibilities
Patient assessments (medical & trauma)
Airway management and oxygen delivery
CPR/AED and cardiac emergencies
Bleeding control and trauma care
Medical emergencies: stroke, diabetes, seizures, overdose
Lifting, moving, and packaging patients
Intro to mass casualty incidents and triage

Each student receives the AAOS Emergency Medical Responder Textbook (latest edition) —
the gold standard for EMR education nationwide.

Eligible for Utah BEMS-DPS EMR Licensure
Eligible to take the NREMT EMR Exam
Certificate of course completion provided

Format: In-person or blended (online + in-person skills)
Length: Approximately 60 hours

All participants must hold a current BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider certification. (Don’t have it? Ask us about adding a BLS course before your EMR start date.)
